10 University of Rhode Island art students will showcase their work—and mark their upcoming graduations—in the senior capstone exhibition What it Means to be Human on view April 18th through May 9 at Hera Gallery in Wakefield. The exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, April 18, from 6- 8pm.

The exhibition features graduating seniors Andrew Garcia, Amy Sanchez-Zamudio, Hailee Patnaude, Kathereene Diaz Araujo, Mason Bernier, Max Choi, Emmett Cummins, Rowan Chaves, Taylor Gibb, and Vincent Saing.

Professor Annu Matthew had this to say about what is expected to be seen:

"The title of the capstone BFA class exhibition 'What it Means to be Human' illuminates the increasing interest in the human experience and creativity, especially with AI now staring us in the face. Each student's unique approach speaks to the path they have chosen and what many will soon realize is missing from their lives."

University of Rhode Island senior art students will present a diverse range of work in this capstone exhibition at Hera Gallery, continuing the gallery’s long-standing tradition of hosting the University’s Senior Seminar show. This annual event highlights emerging artists in a public, professional setting.

The exhibition is coordinated by Annu Palakunnathu Matthew of the Department of Art and Art History.

These programs are presented with partial support from The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, a RI Senate Legislative Grant, Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, The Champlin Foundation, and The Friends of Hera. Hera Gallery is free and open to the public and is accessible to persons with disabilities. Parking is available.
