Hera Gallery is proud to present the exhibition Animations and Photographs From A Decadent World, Night a solo exhibition by Gallery member Mara Trachtenberg. The show will take place at Hera Gallery, at 10 High Street in Wakefield, RI, from March 2st to March 30th, 2019. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Saturday, March  2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Gallery will also be holding an artist talk on Thursday, March 28th, at 7p.m to discuss the artist’s process, materials, and ongoing artistic concepts.

Animations and Photographs From A Decadent World, Night is a series of fictional images by Hera artist member Mara Trachtenberg. Scenes from an imaginary world are rendered in sugar, brought into a visual reality through photography, sculpture, installation and animation. Inhabited by animals and animal/human creatures, this world examines hierarchal societal structures through the relationship between animals and humans. 

Mara Trachtenberg was born and raised in Long Island New York. At the University of Rhode Island she studied English Literature and Women's Studies and earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1995. In 1997 she returned to school to study photography and art education and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2000. Mara received her Master of Fine Arts Degree from The University of Connecticut in 2004. Mara has exhibited her work nationally and is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Rhode Island and Community College of Rhode Island.
