Artist Statement

Erin Starr’s paintings are inspired from the elements of Earth and beyond and its organic depth of color.  Her paintings are a dialogue between what is happening to our planet and herself. With our environment in a crisis, she finds her work inspired by how to convey the message to think about our natural elements, the beauty around us in its abstract and organic way.  Erin states that “Much of what we use in our art is derived from the elements, the minerals of the earth.”  Erin uses some of these organic mediums like mica, gold, and bronze powder, to create illuminating and reflective color. She looks at the water and feels the paint move and illuminate with the light, like the water. Erin hopes others will stop and reflect on the beauty and movements of the paintings and think about the Earth and the dire importance of protecting it for a more sustainable future.

Erin is an international artist residing in Rhode Island. Her work has been a part of solo and group art shows in galleries throughout the United States, including NYC, Chicago, and DC, as well as in Europe. Her work is part of private collections throughout the world.
