Juror Statement
It’s been an honor to jury an exhibition responding to a theme which matters deeply to me: “care”. It is one of the most profound expressions of our shared humanity. It is the connective tissue between individuals, communities, species, and the planet we inhabit. Whether it manifests in quiet acts of attention, sustained devotion, or urgent responses to crisis, care has the power to elevate our collective existence. Care transcends politics, circumstances and time–it’s intrinsic to being human. The works in this exhibition span a range of media and approaches, each engaging with the concept of care in a unique and thoughtful way. For the participating artists, care is not just a subject—it is deeply rooted to the creative process itself. One cannot create without first caring about something: for an idea, a material, a story, a world. The time, attention, and perseverance required to make art are quietly embedded in every piece on display.
