Miracle Due, Gonna Come True

At The Courthouse Center For The Arts

July 17th – August 17, 2009

Opening Reception: Friday, July 17th, 6:00 – 7:30

Hera Gallery and The Courthouse Center for the Arts are pleased to present the upcoming exhibition, Miracle Due, Gonna Come True. The show will feature the artwork of Latin American artists from Rhode Island, Colombia, Honduras, and The Dominican Republic. Participating in this exhibition will be Pablo Alvarez, Cruz Bermudez, Nilton Cardenas, Tamara Diaz, Evans Manuel Molina Fernandez, Jafeth Gomez, Claudia Lucia Palacio Gomez, Camilo Andres Betancur Orozco, Jorge Urena, and Ed Vasquez. Miracle Due, Gonna Come True will feature a variety of new paintings and photographs by the artists.
This exhibition takes its name from the musical West Side Story. Miracle coincides with a production of Leonard Bernstein's iconic 1957 musical at The Courthouse Center for the Arts which will run from July 9th through July 26th. West Side Story was a cultural milestone in recognizing and appreciating the place of Latin Americans in the mosaic of the culture of The United States. In this context, Hera Gallery and The Courthouse Center for the Arts, is glad to be giving exposure in South County to Rhode Island's rich and exciting Latino arts community.
The artwork will be on display at The Courthouse Center for the Arts on route 138 in West Kingston from July 17 through August 17, 2009. An opening reception, free and open to the public, is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The reception will include performances by Colleen Kattau and Evans Manuel Molina Fernandez.

For the next couple of years, Hera Gallery and Hera Educational Foundation is going to be with out a permanent exhibition space. Due to development of the property, we have had to say goodbye to our building of more than thirty years on Main Street in Wakefield. When construction is completed, we hope to return to this location. While two years without a home is a significant loss, we also view it as a great opportunity to try new things. Our partnership with Bagelz of Wakefield to show the art of Hera Members in the Meeting Room Gallery is one such undertaking. There will be many others.

Hera’s time ‘ON THE ROAD’ will be a period of intensive fund raising. We want to make sure we are financially able to reestablish a permanent home. More than ever, we are seeking your support. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated. Also, the purchase of art benefits Hera as well as the artist.
